At first I was going to start by asking “has this ever happened to you”? But a better introduction might be “how many times per day does this happen”. If you have a phone (landline, cellphone) you’ve probably been on the receiving end of the phone spam which starts “This is the second notice your car warranty is about to expire”. They offer an opportunity to remove your number by pushing the #1 – but somehow that option never works. The calls keep coming at all hours and to all numbers.
The major phone carriers have sued them. Yet they still call. Who are they? Reddit has an interesting list of information and a few links to places where you can file a complaint. Not that it’s going to do a bit of good – but you’ll feed better anyway. And if these characters can’t manage a simple request like “press 1 to remove yourself from our list” – how are they ever going to manage a warranty on your car?

I am nearly positive this is a random dial and they have picked upon the one thing many people are both nervous and unsure about.
My Honda's (both) went WELL over 100k with no scheduled maintenance other than regular oil change and the obvious replacements (brakes, tires)

I was getting these calls 4 times a day on my cell. I finally decided to look up some info on Reddit, and tried the advise of connecting to an operator, and telling them I had a '76 Ford Pinto that I wanted to get a warranty for. They said they couldn't offer me one because I didn't meet their requirements, and would remove my number from their list. I haven't gotten a call since then. YMMV, but that worked for me.

Now when I get such a call I just put the phone aside and leave the line open. Previously I gave the phone to one of my toddlers, much more fun. But nowadays they can speak so they might give the correct answers.
