If you don't need a lot of computing power, you can get away with something like this. And for a lot of folks, the compromises don't seem so bad.

Nice set of writing here as well. You're getting good at this :)

Defintiely a good series. Lots of folks could learn well from something like this. For me the appeal of the redfly is that it turns my phone into a netbook sized package, which is great...but sometimes I still want a bigger screen, some extra horsepower, etc.

I'll still keep my macbook. Back then, I didn't have cell technology built in and I had a modem....which I just threw away. The e740 had a USB adaptor and let me connect regular USB keyboards to the e740 and I had regular IM sessions with the wife every night in the hotel room using the 1800 dialup work had setup. It worked beautifully back then and I infrequently ran into wifi hotspots as well and had fast access that way too. Netbooks and the Redfly are going to make people think about HOW they use computers and not why they use them.

I have not had a desktop in years and if I do get one, I may use it as a server more than as a desktop. Mobile devices rule my world.

Years ago I did this as well….but with a Toshiba e740. Thanks for sharing!

I love this series … it is always interesting looking at trade-offs – from old style PDA's to netbooks to this cool combo.
