Tweetie for iPhone is regarded as one of the better Twitter applications.  It let’s you handle multiple Twitter accounts, browse your friends, and features super quick loads along with an option for landscape keyboards all in a simplistic, easy to view format.

Now the same developers have released a version of their popular Twitter application for the Mac operating system.  The application just launched today.  We’ve seen several desktop apps come to the iPhone.  Some are even as good or better on the iPhone but, as far as we can tell, this is the first time an iPhone application that became a desktop one.  There is a free version which runs full featured for two weeks and a full version which costs $14.95.  After May 4th the price increases to $19.95.

The application has a lot of nifty features, and if you’re a Mac OS user it’s definitely worth checking out.  It includes the ability to double click on a tweet to view not only that tweet, but the entire conversation history leading up to that tweet, you can search trends for the most recent tweets on those popular topics with a single click and you can install a bookmarklet, then when you find a cool web page, all it takes is a single click from your browser to share that link with the world via the Tweetie application.  These are just a few of the special features Tweetie offers.

Tweetie requires a G4, G5 or Intel Mac and Mac OS X 10.5.

More information about Tweetie can be gathered on the developer’s web site.

I have always had a passion for gear and gadgets. It all started for me with the release of the very first Palm Pilot. I've always had an interest in handheld electronics. From handheld PDAs, to cell phones, Mp3 players, watches and other products, I'm the first person my friends, family and colleagues call when they need advice on tech. I have roots in the online tech. forum community. I served as the Administrator to Howard Forums.com and as a Moderator at both Treo Central.com and Blackberry Forums.net. Under the screen name “lgreenberg” I've amassed 50,000+ postings. I also manage my own YouTube channel under the user name larrygreenberg. I'm always eager to help.
