Are you a corporate road warrior needing a cheaper alternative to paying for unreliable Wi-Fi at airports and hotels? If time is money and your work relies on constant access to e-mail, Lenovo’s Constant Connect may be your answer.
Announced in February, Constant Connect is now available for purchase. What makes Lenovo’s ConstantConnect stand out is that it allows enterprise e-mail on a user’s BlackBerry to be automatically synchronized via Bluetooth® onto the your ThinkPad – even if the ThinkPad is off – without the user having to take any additional steps.
You don’t have to establish a separate secure connection through your company VPN. When you boot up the ThinkPad, new e-mail will already be loaded. You can be on a flight, read and respond to e-mail, then power down the ThinkPad prior to landing. The Constant Connect Express Card will automatically sync those messages to their BlackBerry and send them once their handheld establishes a wireless network connection after landing.

The $150 ConstantConnect ExpressCard is 54mm, features built-in BlueTooth radio with a range of 30 feet and 500MB storage. The card will work with any Intel Montevina based ThinkPadBlackBerry running OS 4.2 or higher. ConstantConnect can be purchased with new ThinkPads or separately through Lenovo.
Lenovo’s Constant Connect is designed to work with Exchange, Outlook, POP and Gmail (Lotus Notes support is expected later in 2009). The product is available now in the U.S. Unfortunately, ThinkPad users outside the U.S. will have to wait until later this year for Constant Connect availability.
