Here’s a gadget that will compete with the $7000 Vertu Phone. This $100,000 camera shoots video at 1000fps and 1280 x 1024 pixels to produce Super Slow Motion HD footage. The clip below was shot using this camera in a Rudi Diesel designed and built underwater housing.
The full camera specs are:
light sensitivity 1000 ASA/ISO at 0 db (max. 5000 ASA/ISO)
frame rate up to 200.000 frames per second (fps)
10bit colour
resolution 1280 x 1024 pixels up to 1000fps
4GB onboard memory
fast download via fibre channel
robust system
long distance remote operation
The BBC Natural History Unit have used this camera to produce a documentary series called South Pacific from which the clip was taken. I’m starting to save for one now and my grandchildren should be able to buy one.
