Quick Look – Sapiens Launcher For Mac

Sapiens Launcher for Mac

In my search for a better launcher for my Macs I came across this little gem. Sapiens takes a different approach to launching applications on your Mac. It relies most heavily on the mouse or trackpad and then uses the keyboard to supplement its speed and accuracy.

In addition…

Sapiens is clever because it learns from you, so unlike any other launcher it predicts the applications you will likely need and offers a visualization of this prediction in an intuitive way. Sapiens is activated by moving the mouse in a circle (yes, it is a mouse gesture that finally works), therefore touching the keyboard is really the last resort to be used in case you want to search for a specific application.

I’ve been really impressed with it so far. A quick video of it in action follows…

Sapiens is available for $19.95 and is available HERE.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

It’s pretty slick. I do find I use it more than Quicksilver.

I do find I sometimes have to make the gesture multiple times to get it to appear though.
