Here’s one heck of a good deal on an HP2140. PCMall has a huge discount on the gorgeous HP2140 and includes a slipcase and an extra GB of RAM INSTALLED to boot.
I am enjoying mine (with just 1GB RAM) and, for anyone looking to get a small, light but durable netbook, can’t recommend it highly enough. Sure you have to put up with XP Home Edition, but for $299 who can complain?
Note- This post promted me to update my HP2140 to 2GB of RAM. I should have done it sooner. No surprise but… it is MUCH more responsive with the extra RAM!
Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”)
Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

This is an excellent deal – most places have it near $400 without the extras!
I loved the HP2133 built quality and solid feel, but the Via system was ultra-pokey …

As netbooks go the 2140 is super impressive. Build quality, look etc are all excellent. The only thing that would make it better for me isthe ability to hackintosh it. Unfortunately I have yet to read a story of a truly complete and stable os x install on it.
That noted, this price is shockingly low for a netbook that is truly a work machine.
