As a recent Netbook purchaser I can tell you that Netbook computers are great for anyone who primarily works via the web. The last few days I’ve connected via Windows Remote Desktop Connection to two of my clients to work on their computers, streamed Slacker Radio in the morning, watched movies, browsed the Internet from bed and let my kids play Club Penguin until their fingertips bleed. All of this from a Wi-Fi connected Netbook that cost barely over $300 and is ultra light to carry.
These tiny (10″ screen) and cheap Wi-Fi equipped machines are great for taking anyplace you may not want to venture with a bigger, heavier and more expensive full laptop. Admittedly, you cannot edit Photo Shop, but how many of us are really doing that anyhow? The first thing that I did was upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 (recommended) and I’ve been happily surfing ever since with narry a hiccup, crash or annoying reminder that I’m on Windows. This Lenovi S10-2 is available via our GearSponsor LogicBuy for $359 (Note: Presently showing a backorder status of 4 weeks). Rated for 6 hours working time with a 1.3 mp webcam, 802.11b/g, 1GB DDR2 and 160 GB hard drive. If you haven’t taken the Netbook plunge, what are you waiting for?

I absolutely love my Lenovo S-10. I have Office on there for light stuff, use web browsing and email largely, and even have my statistical analysis software (Minitab and JMP from SAS Institute) installed which allow some quick analysis on the go. I am even able to play a reasonable amount of games on it, though nothing new or demanding obviously. It is a great little netbook and this is a tremendous deal!

That is a great deal! The Lenovo netbook had made my shortlist of netbooks to consider when I was shopping for a new one…if there had been a deal like that I might have jumped on it instead of the Dell. I have heard nothing but good things about the S-10.
I actually DO use Photoshop on my Mini…granted it doesn’t give me tons of screen space to work with, but I am to the point that when I try to use my 17″ Powerbook, it just feels like it is too MUCH! Crazy eh? I am not just a netbook user these days, I am a netbook fiend!
