DataViz, makers of the popular Documents To Go software for viewing and editing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, has just released DTG for the iPhone.

It’s available in two flavors: a standard version and a version that supports Exchange email attachments. Both versions feature:

  • Viewing, creation, and editing of Word documents
  • Viewing of Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and iWork files
  • 2-way file synchronization using the included desktop application (over wi-fi)

Currently, only Word document creation and editing are featured, but if you purchase between now and June 30th, you’ll be eligible for a free upgrade to a version supporting creation and editing of Excel files when it’s available.

Both are specially priced through June 30th.  The standard version is available for $4.99 and the version with Exchange support is $9.99.

It will be interesting to see how DTG does against QuickOffice, which beat DTG to the iPhone market and sports more features, but comes with a higher price ($19.99).

Jeff’s interest in computers and technology began by watching too many Star Trek reruns after school. His first computer was a Timex-Sinclair, for which he had the 16K – yes, 16K – add-on pack. His current interest in gadgets was spurred on by the original Palm Pilot; from there it was a slippery slope to Pocket PCs, Archos media players, Sony Cliés, and various Apple products.

I have heard mixed to poor things about DTG so far … pretty sad given how wonderful it has been historically.
