Apple warns that unsupported third-party digital media is, well, unsupported

Several web sites have picked up on the fact that Apple just clarified that trying to synchronize unsupported third-party digital media to iTunes – is unsupported. Thanks for the tip Apple. I’m sure what they’re referring to is the ability of smartphones like the Palm Pre to mis-identify themselves as an iPod and thereby synchronize non-protected music directly to iTunes. Apple wants to make it clear that should the synchronization break in the future (anyone think it won’t?) – that you’ve been warned.

I see a new iTunes version coming soon … and a mysterious Palm Pre sync breakage. This way they can say – hey, the Pre isn’t an iPod and is therefore unsupported.
