You’ve got to feel badly for some developers. Sometime today their hard work will become all but irrelevant. The vision they had that enabled them to find workarounds to some of Apple’s self-imposed iPhone limits will suddenly come to naught. iPhone OS 3.0 means these applications are largely, or in some cases entirely, redundant.
I put word out to my fellow iPhone users here at Gear Diary asking one simple question — “What applications you use that will be rendered redundant or unnecessary as soon as you load OS 3.0.” Here are the ones Larry rattled off in seconds…
Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”)
Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

It is amazing to think of the ton of utilities that have been decimated by OS upgrades through the years … all the way back to Norton Commander and before …
I wouldn’t write off all those voice recording apps so fast – the new built-in Voice Memos app is beyond basic, and lacks many of the features of several 3rd party apps I’ve seen for this purpose …

Patrick- You are probably right. In fact, I pulled two off the initial list. BUT ONLY! those that are feature rich. Basic voice notes… gone
