Google Voice - Inbox (5)

Google Voice is amazing! Through its integrated voice mail transcription, ability to assign  unique messages to various groups, to its control of ringing multiple phone numbers at one time, it has already begun to transform the way I use my phone. It has also been a source of frustration for many since it has only been available to those of us who previously had a Grand Central account.

Well, rumor has it the gates may be opened wide later today. According to James over on JKOnTheRun, a comment in a recent CNET podcast indicated that Google was allowing the masses to join in the fun on June 18.That translates to some time in the next 15 hours. We’ll keep you posted.

Assuming it is true tell me, can you remember a better week in tech? Me either.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
