The Dark Side of Video Game Console Fanboy-ism

Beware – while the link below doesn’t fall into the NSFW (not safe for work) category, you might want to avoid clicking on it. Because this is what happens when you take your love of a video game console to the extreme!

From the site:

If you love your Nintendo Controller as much as Metal games from Arnheim does, you would let Jeffrey to take up a scarification project in order to etch the controller’s design on some part of the body, just like Metal games did.

That is right – ETCH into your body. Beyond a simple tattoo that some fanboys get, this is known as ‘scarification’, and it means I have finally found something that my kids could contemplate doing in their teen years that would truly shock and appall me.

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!

Just remember kids…before you go out and permanently declare your love for a game system, make sure you’re betting on the right one. No one wants to be walking around with a dreamcast controller etched into their leg. Or get caught with a PS3 controller scar in an Xbox fanboy neighborhood.

    I just keep thinking….OWEEEE!

Wondering if it was done with a dremel…

Hm, I wonder if there are any geriatric folk hobbling around with slide-rulers, punch cards or vacuum tubes etched in their now-sagging flesh?

@breley … no, because back then we realized this sort of thing was STUPID!

I know of none of my friends who miss slide rules or punch cards … though the training and discipline associated with them is sorely missed in the sloppy, instant gratification, fix-it-in-the-next-patch youth …
