The popular (and currently free) BlackBerry Twitter client, ÜberTwitter has updated their open beta version 3.0 to include many updated features, including integration with GoogleMaps, copy/paste “Tweets” into other BlackBerry applications, and the ability to locate other Twitter users near you. More screenshots of the new ÜberTwitter, and a summary of additional features is available after the jump.
A few of ÜberTwitter’s updated features include:
* New interface.
* Significant reduction of Battery Drain while running the application.
* Added a ‘Copy Tweet’ menu item so you can copy/paste entire tweets into other BlackBerry applications.
* Integrated ability to upload pictures to a site dedicated to serving ÜberTwitter users.
* Ability to optionally update your Google Talk status with your last tweet, making your tweets reach a wider audience then just reaching people following you on Twitter.
* Integrated Google Maps when viewing a Tweet, works just like the myloc.me web site. This will view the location of the tweet if it includes a ‘myloc.me’ or ‘mypic.me’ or ‘myvid.me’ URL, OR will use the location in the profile if it includes a latitude/longitude pair.
* The ability to follow a thread of replies.
* Automatically update your location based on the cell tower information provided by your phone, no GPS hardware required (view example).
* Send videos embedded in your tweet.
* See everyone who is tweeting near you.
A full list of the many current — and upcoming — enhancements is available on the ÜberTwitter website.
You can participate in the beta and download ÜberTwitter by going to http://ubertwitter.com/bb/download.php right from your BlackBerry browser. The software is supported on any BlackBerry device running OS 4.2.1 through 4.7.

I just tried UberTwitter 3.0 beta on my Blackberry Pearl 8120 and it somehow reposted some of my old tweets. A huge bug I guess.

I just saw on the Ubertwitter site that there is another version of the Beta 3 available. Apparently this update corrects some other issues — you may want to try the latest update as well.
