While XBOX360 and PS3 owners are already enjoying the critically acclaimed Red Faction Guerrilla, the PC version was delayed until late summer. The release date isn’t official, but there seems to be a broad consensus that the date is August 25th. Given that the franchise started out on the PC, some feel a bit put out over the delay. Or perhaps you have heard of the franchise only recently and never played the originals, and are still disappointed at having to wait while your console gamer friends are already on their second playthrough.

GamersGate feels your pain, and wants to help you out. If you pre-order the game through their digital download site, you will get the full digital download versions of the original Red Faction 1 & 2 for FREE! The PC version costs $39.99 (which you can remind your console gamer friends is $20 less than they paid!), and the original games are available for immediate download.

Red Faction earned fame as the first game to offer destructible environments, and is still fun now despite being somewhat dated and limited by age and technology. Red Faction 2 was largely a disappointment, but is still a few hours of shooter fun. Unfortunately, you cannot get the Mac version of Red Faction as your free download since this is a PC-only deal. That would have been great since the game won’t install on an Intel-based Mac. Even without that option, this is an excellent deal!

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
