Looking to quickly develop true “Push” iPhone 3GS / 3.0 OS applications? Need a way to port your mobile applications between the iPhone and BlackBerry? Rhomobile has launched their Rhodes 1.2 development environment that will allow you to easily make push/sync applications for for both the 3GS and BlackBerry platforms.

Build once, deploy anywhere
It seems that with this move to version 1.2, Rhomobile and Apple may have kissed and made up since some of the original frustration over App Store rules.
*** Correction ***
Rhomobile’s applications have never been rejected from Apple’s App Store. Adam Blum, CEO of Rhomobile, was actually referring to the problems that Phonegap — makers of another rapid mobile application development toolkit – were running into back in May of this year.
Developers using Rhomobile’s Rhodes to create apps can be assured that their work will not be rejected by Apple (at least not due to using the Rhomobile solution to help build their applications).
Many thanks to the Rhomobile team for reaching out and making sure this point was made clear, and the original post was corrected — Jason R.

The update in the Rhodes 1.2 open-source mobile framewlork leverages the new capabilities in the iPhone 3GS — while still allowing developers to use their HTML skills to create applications without worrying about rewriting their code for every mobile OS platform. Additional features in Rhodes include access to device features like GPS, PIM contacts, and camera.
Rhomobile’s framework supports developing applications for Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, as well as BlackBerry and the iPhones.
