One small change at a time...
If someone were to ask me for my definition of the “perfect” job, it would be an occupation where (in no particular order):
- I enjoy the work that I do.
- I would be well-paid (subjective, I know) for the work that I do, and…
- I get the opportunity to help people.
Jobs like these don’t come along everyday. But, if you’re like me AND you live in the United Kingdom, then I should inform you – you’ve got less than two weeks left to apply for that perfect job. Just don’t use me as a reference ![]()
On July 30, 2009, the Vodafone Foundation will cease accepting applications for their ‘World of Difference’ program which is, as the foundation puts it, a “Once in a lifetime opportunity for eight inspirational individuals who can really make a difference to people’s lives overseas.”
The Vodafone Foundation will pick eight lucky finalists, all of whom will receive “Salary and expenses package worth up to £45,000 [That's approximately $73,900US by today's currency conversion...Yowza! - Spencer] offered by the Vodafone Foundation for each individual who will work abroad for a UK based charity”.
The program is open to anyone over the age of 18, who lives in the United Kingdom and is willing to put their life as they know it on hold for one year. As the Vodafone Foundation FAQ states:
“… It doesn’t matter if you’ve never volunteered for anything in the past. If you’ve always wanted to work for your dream charity, but have never had the opportunity, this is your chance to show what you have to offer and make a difference.”
This program operates through twelve different foundations and, by 2010, in 18 countries around the world. Again, the last day you can apply for this opportunity is July 30th and you can find the application here. Given the state of The World today, we can all benefit from empowering a few more people who want to make it a better place.
Why can’t you be one of them?
