WiiSportsResort

Welcome back to the GearGames weekly video game release feature here at Gear Diary! If you haven’t played Wii Sports … you need to get out more. A huge seller, with nearly 50 million copies sold, it was only a matter of time before a follow-up came along … and here it is: Wii Sports Resort along with the Wii Motion Plus. Early reviews have been very positive, and this seems sure to sell millions and suck away hours with what seems like a simple collection of trivial mini-games.

Other than that … not too much. The PC release of Bionic Commando is sort of a non-starter as he console version has been out for a bit and is a disappointment. Also, early reviews of The King of Fighters XII suggest its’ moniker is quite a bit misplaced. Anyway, check out the list!

Some notes from last week:

  • G-Force (Every gaming platform)
  • - The movie was terrible, so the game seems good by comparison, but in reality is yet another movie tie-in piece of ‘shovelware’.

  • Rock Band Country Track Pack (X360, PS3, PS2, Wii)
  • - Yet another solid but unspectacular money-printing add-on takes on another genre.

What games am I playing now?:

  • PC: Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines – I continue working through this huge game, trying to gather every detail. I’ve started characters from different vampire clans, which produces amazing variety in the gameplay experience.
  • PC: (Anno 1404) Dawn of Discovery – different but similar to the DS version, this is the best RTS since Empire: Total War and best simulation city-builder since … well, Anno 1701.
  • DS: (Anno 1404) Dawn of Discovery – this game keeps pulling my time!

So what are you playing? Chime in below!

Enjoy gaming!

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!
