Apple’s promised MobileMe iDisk app is now available. The app makes accessing your iDisk simple. Once you log into your MobileMe account (required) the app shows which f your files have been saved to your iDisk. From there it is a simple tap and the file appears on your iPhone.

This is an amazingly innovative app that…

Oh, wait, what’s that you say? Apps like Air Sharing and MobileDisk and (yes the list goes on) already have that functionality? And what?Apple just undermined more developers by letting them create a paid app and then undercutting them? Okay, well at least Apple’s redundant, should have been out long ago app for accessing your iDisk is now available.

So let’s look at the week so far…  Apple pulls or rejects apps that work with Google Voice and now releases an app that mimics, albeit in a limited manner, what other apps have done for months. Just another way Apple shows how much they love both developers and end-users.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
