The Zii technology demoed at CES has been in hibernation for a while, but the official deets have finally come out today about what they planned to do with their Zii stem cell computing platform.  That devices is called the Zii Egg.

The Egg is the device for Creative’s new developer platform called Plaszma.  Plaszma is based on the Android OS.

As for the Egg, it’s capable of 1080p HD video output.  It also has wifi, GPS, 32 GB of storage and has both a HD and VGA camera integrated.  There is no cell phone capability.  This is primarily a media device similar to the iPod Touch.

The Developer Kit is ready for pre-orders for $399.99.

Update(7-31-09): According to Warner Crocker on Gottabemobile.com, the Zii Egg ships with Plaszma OS installed by default and not Android.  What is not clear is what Plaszma is based on.  I think what Creative plans to do is to ship Plaszma for the regular consumers and let developers install Android on the device.  It’s really a win-win kind of device.  I can’t wait to see one!
