The first rumor was that Apple had previously said it planned to attend and be displaying at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show.
Then they’d changed their tune and are only saying they “may” be there.
Several publications, including the Wall Street Journal, have hinted that Steve Jobs may give the keynote address at CES in 2010 if they do.
This would be one heck of a story but is it true?
Gary Shapiro, who runs CES, recently said that although he has invited both Apple to display at the show and Jobs to give the keynote, he has not heard back from anyone at Apple regarding either invitation.
The bulk of the Jobs rumor comes from a dinner conversation Shapiro had with some reporters recently.
The WSJ says,
At a dinner with journalists this week in San Francisco, CEA’s Shapiro was asked whether he’s invited Jobs, who recently returned from medical leave, to keynote the show. Yes, Jobs has been asked, but nobody from Apple has gotten back to him, Shapiro said.
But Ryan Block of Engadget who was also at the dinner says otherwise,
I was seated directly across from Gary, and present for the entire conversation,” says Engadget’s Ryan Block ” At no point did Gary even remotely imply that Apple would be present at a future CES.
I guess time will tell…………..
