Scosche Announces The First 3rd Party Earphones with a Fully Functioning Remote and Mic

My big complaint about the current generation iPod Shuffle was that it requires special earbuds and the only earbuds available are Apple’s stock buds, That leaves a good bit to desire. Thankfully that is beginning to change and Scosche Industries is one of the first to offer bettwe quality buds that work with ALL iPods.

The $49.99 buds…

feature Scosche’s integrated tapLINE! control technology that allows users to play/pause,
adjust volume, skip tracks, navigate playlists, record voice memos, activate the voice control feature, and
answer/end calls without having to take their iPod or iPhone out of their pocket or bag.  This functionality is
particularly useful for iPod shuffle Gen 3 users given that model’s lack of control buttons.

The earphones compatibility with Apple’s new Voice Control Technology allows iPhone 3GS users to speak
the name of a contact or say a phone number to place a call.  IDR350M users can say the name of a song
to play a specific track, ask the iPhone what song is playing, or even ask the iPhone to play similar songs
with the Scosche earphones.

In addition the buds come with six interchangeable color caps to better match your mood or taste. The new buds will be available within the next few weeks.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
