iSkin offers a wide range of excellent accessories to enhance and protect your iPhone, iPod and Mac.
The company was kind enough to give me the opportunity to check out a number of their items first hand. I found all to offer good protection, nice style and decent good value. Let’s take a look…
iSkin Vibes for iPod touch 2G

Description:
Featuring a soft, flexible feel combined with a stunning glass-like finish, the iSkin touch Vibes perfectly encapsulates the iPod touch 2G’s subtle curves and delivers essential everyday protection against impact, scratches, dirt, dust, and more. It’s also odourless, heat/cold resistant, covers all ports and controls, and is a breeze to maintain and keep clean.
With its high-gloss finish and low-profile design, the iSkin touch Vibes is designed to be as artful as the iPod touch 2G itself. It follows every curve to perfectly encapsulate and protect the iPod touch 2G’s graceful body.
Protecting your iPod touch 2G’s screen is an essential, full-time job. That’s why the iSkin touch Vibes arrives with an ultra-clear screen protector to help guard against scratches, dirt, dust, moisture and more.

I like low-profile protection for my touch and that is exactly what the Vibe offers. It protects everything but the screen and, since it ships with a screen protector, that is also covered.
I like the feel of the Vibe. The pattern is subtle and, because it in on the inside of the case, the case itself remains smooth to the touch. A subtle embossed logo and curved corner markings on the back add some degree of extra grip. That’s important on a smooth case.
iSkin also ships the vibe with a Dock Adapter so it can be used with a wide range of iPhone and iPod accessories. I love when a company includes the dock adapter as it makes using the case a more pleasant experience. I was, however, surprised to find that while Vibeships with it the iPhone cases I reviewed to not.
As a final indication that iSkin really thought through how best to protect the touch, (after all it isn’t an inexpensive item!) they also include a 30-pin docking port protector to keep out dust. It is simple enough to use, you just insert the port protector and you’re covered, but it is so small that I lost it after the first day!
The Vibe comes in five color: Reflex (blue frosted), Blaze (red frosted), Carbon (black frosted), Rave (purple frosted) and Pure (clear frosted).

What I Like: Form Fitting, well designed, includes screen protector and dock adapter
What Needs Improvement: If you like this type of form-fitting material the Vibe is a great choice. On the high end price-wise for a case like this.
Available from iSkin for an MSRP of $29.99
iSkin Solo and SoloFX for iPhone 3G and 3GS

Description:
Carefully crafted for a precise fit, the iSkin solo and solo FX perfectly encapsulate the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS’ elegant contours in a beautiful, high-gloss bodysuit. The iSkin solo FX raises the style bar even further by adding an embossed designer pattern that demands attention, and a fabulous mirror film that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.
Delivering fashionable everyday protection against impact, scratches, dirt, dust, and everyday hazards, the form-fitting solo and solo FX are also hot/cold temperature resistant, odorless, and available in a range of stunning high-gloss color options.
The solo is quite similar in style to the Vibe for iPod touch. The Solo comes in solid colors while the Solo FX offers the same, subtle pttern as found on the Vibe. In both cases the cases offer complete protection for everything but the screen. Cutouts of the dock, camera headphone and silent toggle are perfectly placed, while the silent button and volume toggle are covered without any loss of functionality.

I love the fact that the case stays solidly on the iPhone but is super easy to put on and remove.

Both cases come with screen protectors. The iSkin solo’s is an ultra-clear film while the solo FX is mirrored. I put the mirrored film to see what it was like. I was not expecting it to stay but it is still there. I like it that much.
What I Like: Form Fitting, well designed, includes screen protector
What Needs Improvement: If you like this type of form-fitting material the Solo is a great choice. My wife doesn’t like the way the mirrored protector on the FX looks. I do. It is a matter of taste. On the high end for a case like this.
Soho for MacBook Pro

Description:
It’s what’s inside that counts. On the go with your laptop means keeping it safe and the iSkin SOHO does just that. With elegant style and cool colors, SOHO features a multi-layered design to absorb the hits and dings that would normally damage your laptop. MacBook, meet your match.
Made for the MacBook and Macbook Pro, the SOHO’s distinguished good looks, coupled with legendary iSkin fit and finish, makes it the perfect accessory for your laptop and your outfit. It also fits PC’s with similar dimensions.
The iSkin SOHO comes in a variety of different versions. All offer excellent protection for your MacBook or similarly-sized notebook.
The case itself is light but clearly offers good protection. Unlike the leather “pockets” or “envelopes” that are available, the SOHO has and maintains its shape whether a notebook is inside or not. I have to imagine that this increases the degree of protection it offers but have not done tests to back that statement up.

What I do know is that it is a great lightweight way to take my MacBook Pro with me. Better still, since I keep a Speck HardShell on my MacBook all the time I was thrilled to find that the SOHO will hold the MacBook even while it is in the shell. While this might seem like overkill I can’t help but appreciate the exctra protection this combination offers.
The SOHO has a two-tone design and colored stitching that adds interest. The simulated leather finish is, well, simulated leather. I tend to be a purist on these things but have to admit the material looks and feels nice.
Elastic screen straps mean you can use the notebook while it remains in the SOHO. That noted, the company also warns against letting the notebook overheat. As they say on the site…
CAUTION: Remove the laptop from the SOHO while connected to an external monitor or when used for extended periods of time. iSkin is not responsible for damage caused to your laptop when used with this product.
That is more than enough to make me take the MacBook Pro out of the case when I use it.
The SOHO is available in a number of color schemes…Amazon: Black with Pink, Graphite: Black with Grey, Magnum: Black with Red, Sahara: Black with Orange, Azure: Black with Blue,iSkin SOHO Graphite
What I Like: Well made, offers good protection, heavy-duty zipper, soft interior that won’t damage the notebook, holds its own form for extra protection, smaler notebooks will slide inside
What Needs Improvement: Not real leather
Available from iSkin for an MSRP of $49.99 for 13″, $54.99 for 15″.
iSkin ProTouchFX

Description:
You want to protect, maintain and keep your MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Keyboard beautiful and functional. But how do you keep food, spills and other hazards from attacking your keyboard – and ruining its pristine good looks and reliable performance? Easy! You protect it with the innovative, stylish and long-lasting ProTouch!
Featuring Microban® protection to inhibit the growth of odor and stain causing bacteria on the product, ProTouch is made of premium, high-grade silicone that completely covers each key.
You’ll get comfort and protection without sacrificing performance or usability. It even diminishes keystroke sound, which is perfect for keeping the noise level down in libraries, airplanes and anywhere else! And keeping your ProTouch clean is a breeze, too. Just remove, wash with mild soap and water, allow to dry, and re-apply.
I tried a non-name keyboard protector I got from eBay a bit back. It was horrible. The material was light and a bit sticky to the touch. It slowed my typing tremendously and, since it covered the keys and I don’t touch type, it made my typing even worse than normal. As a result I was not sure what I would think of the ProTouch. Well… I love it.
The protector is made from a material that is heavy enough to feel substantial while light enough to still allow my MacBook Pro to close without an issue. The printed keys are fantastic and allow me to continue using the keyboard without issue.
When I first placed the ProTouch FX on my keyboard there was a gap between it and the keys. Within a fey moments of use it “settled” and started to fit like a glove… a well-fitting glove!
I do find that I need to type a bit differently when the ProTouch FX is on the keyboard but I have quickly become used to the fact that I simply need to hold hands a bit higher when typing. and the more I use the ProTouch the more I like it.
What I Like: Protects the keyboard without any loss of functionality, PRINTED KEYS!!!!!
What Needs Improvement: Nothing! I love this item!
Available from iSkin for an MSRP of $34.99.
