It's very important to distinguish between the plant pod types...I don't believe they're entirely interchangeable. We're trying the green beans kit right now having tried many of the kits already for the past few years. We finished the Mediterranean Herbs, though the basil the we got with the kit didn't sprout, so I put in basil seeds from a seed packet and they worked just as well. Also, when the previous unit failed I was able to transplant some of the cherry tomatoes outside and they're now getting ready to fruit.
