Mixed in with Apple’s egregious pulling of all Google Voice apps this past week we saw some excellent app updates. Here are some that have caught our eye…
Instapaper Pro
Instapaper is a great app for saving articles and reading them when you have time. The iPhone app is great. The browser web clipper works well and, as a whole, the system is a terrific one if you feel inundated by information and want a better way to organize and save it. The standard version of Instapaper is great but the Pro version is downright powerful. And, as the recent update shows, it just gets better and better.

DVR Remote
Who needs a remote for your Tivo when you have an iPhone or iPod touch? DVR remote turns your iPhone or iPod touch into a remote that not only replaces the one that came with your Tivo box but does an even better job by providing a keyboard and more.
I Dig It
I love this game! I downloaded it two weeks ago and find it is a fantastic way to spend some time. Actually, to be more accurate, it is a great was to spend tons of time. I am impressed that the core game (there are many sub-games within the app) is based on a playing it for four hours. It is pretty optimistic of the developer to think someone will like the game enough to play for FOUR hours. BUT… he’s right… it is that much fun.
This update added new games that kept the game fresh for me. Well done!

Illness Tracker
If you have health issues this is a great app for tracking good, okay and bad days. This app update adds a much-needed functionality- the ability to track medications. It is surprising that this functionality wasn’t there from the beginning and it is nice to have it now.

Postman
Using the iPhone to send virtual postcards is something I would never have thought of but, now that I’ve seen how well and app like this can work, I’m impressed. This update adds themes, a new interface and much much more.

Myst
Myst – while not anywhere near the scope of the massive previous update, handling bug fixes and adding restore options is always useful. I found that the update still required the 1.1GB of free space to install for me, making this a bit of a pain.

The Quest
One of the best ‘old skool’ RPG games on the iTunes App STore just got MUCH better! New maps, new quests, new monsters and a host of updates and fixes. If you like this style of game, consider this one a must have!

UniWar
This update brings some bug fixes, but the focus is online play! The developers just keep making this cool turn-based strategy game even better!

StarWalk
- a great update that I was hoping for – the “Star Spotter” function allows use of the digital compass of the iPhone 3G S.
