iPhone Numbers Speak For Themselves

While Apple might need to worry about the FCC inquiry into its handling of the Google Voice apps, it sure looks like they can brush off any customer anger they have elicited (like mine). The numbers speak for themselves…

The iPhone now accounts for 8% of mobile revenue and 32% of handset profits. In the second quarter the iPhone 3GS was the second most popular handset. According to one estimate the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G are in the 2nd and 4th spots. (And remember, the iPhone was only available for a small PART of the 2nd quarter.)

No wonder Telstra is reporting the handset as “unavailable” in Australia currently.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
