Yup, There’s An App For Crap, On The iPhone

Apps apps and more apps. The App Store is a hit!

While there are so many amazing apps in the App Store we all know there are also an astonishing number that are… well, if we are going to be blunt… CRAP.

The proliferation of fart apps was bad enough. 100 fart sounds… 500 farts sounds… even an app for 5000 body sounds. Who comes up with this crApp???

More recently we’ve seen numerous apps that show scantily clad women as the iPhone goes soft-core. (A number of us had a good time ranting on one earlier in the week… post coming soon.)

And then there is the app we learned about today… it takes crApp Apps to a whole new level.

The Poo Log is “a digital timer and journal for recording and studying the wondrous uniqueness of each bowel movement”.

That was too much. Larry and I HAD to do something. And here it is…

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

Very funny. Thanks for not actually using the apps in the video – we can only take so much hilarity!

Bill, you would not believe how many fart, burp, sexy hot mama, and now poo apps we field every day. I mean seriously…WHY? :-P

There seems to be a strange fascination with “bathroom humor” amongst the younger crowd. Comedy is getting grosser all the time, and I don’t see the reason for it. Maybe it’s the shock value. But frankly, I’m not shocked by anything like that anymore. I shudder at what they’ll come up with next.

Likewise, for the last several years I have noticed that SciFi seems to be getting gorier, and the stories suffer when it does. I had to quit watching FarScape because of it.

As for the scantily clad women…well, I guess it’s a guy thing. I noticed years ago that there were numerous R- and X-rated themes for the iPaqs. I don’t see the point, and would be embarrassed for anyone to see such a thing on my device.
