Voltaic Solar Bags

I’ve mentioned several times how much I love the idea of convergence devices.

From my iPhone, to my clock radio, to my USB hub/dock I’m all about getting the most function out of every device I own.

The Voltaic line of gear bags not only will carry all of your gadgets around town for you it’ll charge them too.

Each Volaic bag incorporates a compact and removable internal Li-ion batter pack which features a low profile belt clip and a twin, super bright LED illuminator, plus an assortment of adapters which can power or charge most digital devices (except notebook computers.)  The compact battery pack can be removed from the bag, clipped to a belt or clothing and used to power and charge devices without toting the entire bag.

How does it all work?

Securely embedded in an exterior panel of each bag are 3 lightweight, tough and waterproof photo-voltaic (solar) panels which are arrayed to generate up to 4 full watts of power. An internal Li-Ion battery pack stores the power generated by the panels, so it’s available when you need it – not just when the Sun is shining. The battery pack can also be charged using the included automobile or world voltage AC charge adapters – this makes your Voltaic bag just as useful whether off the grid or on.

The bags start at $170 and you can view the entire collection here.

I have always had a passion for gear and gadgets. It all started for me with the release of the very first Palm Pilot. I've always had an interest in handheld electronics. From handheld PDAs, to cell phones, Mp3 players, watches and other products, I'm the first person my friends, family and colleagues call when they need advice on tech. I have roots in the online tech. forum community. I served as the Administrator to Howard Forums.com and as a Moderator at both Treo Central.com and Blackberry Forums.net. Under the screen name “lgreenberg” I've amassed 50,000+ postings. I also manage my own YouTube channel under the user name larrygreenberg. I'm always eager to help.
