Twelve South,  a company which has designed some of the more stylish looking accessories for Apple computers, has announced its newest creation.

The Backpack is a shelf designed specifically to fit the Apple iMac and Apple Cinema Displays.

The Backpack uses two adjustable clips and gravity to literally perch on the desk stand of iMacs and Cinema Displays. The adjustable clips allow users to position the BackPack at the desired height, so gear on the shelf is within reach. Because it is height adjustable, there is room for two BackPacks on one Mac. With two BackPacks in place, the lower shelf could be used to store larger hard drives, while the top shelf could be used to store smaller items like a charging iPod, or a favorite collectible.

Perfect for keeping your back up hard drive out of the way, or as spot to rest your iPod while charging.

The BackPack is available in all Apple stores and online for $29.95.

You can learn more about this product by visiting the Twelve South web site.

I have always had a passion for gear and gadgets. It all started for me with the release of the very first Palm Pilot. I've always had an interest in handheld electronics. From handheld PDAs, to cell phones, Mp3 players, watches and other products, I'm the first person my friends, family and colleagues call when they need advice on tech. I have roots in the online tech. forum community. I served as the Administrator to Howard Forums.com and as a Moderator at both Treo Central.com and Blackberry Forums.net. Under the screen name “lgreenberg” I've amassed 50,000+ postings. I also manage my own YouTube channel under the user name larrygreenberg. I'm always eager to help.
