Today marks the start of HP and Microsoft’s ‘Back to School and Better Together’ Giveaway. Student Bloggers is the first site to go live with their contest, and up for grabs is a computer combo containing an HP dv6, an HP Mini 110 and Syncables software – which allows you to keep the larger laptop at home but carry the smaller netbook (synced and carrying all of your data!) when on the go. The Winner will also get a customized Student Bloggers  Timbuk2 bag to carry their loot!

Taken from the Student Blogger’s Contest post…

There are three main qualifications for entry:

  • Tell me your best back to school story. College back-to-school is preferable (since we are a college blogger site), but I’m not trying to discriminate, so high school is okay as well. You might have a “crazy landlord” story, “horrible first class” story, “met your soulmate in orientation” story, or “wild turkeys invading the dorms” story. Whatever. It should be interesting. One caveat — “getting wasted” stories are usually boring to those not involved. It’d better be more than just that.
    1. If you are a blogger, submit your entry as a post on your blog and email the link to alex@studentbloggers.org. If you don’t have a blog, simply write the story in an email and send it to the same address.
    2. Include “HP Back to School” (without quotes) in the subject line.
    3. Keep it to a few paragraphs. No rambling please. My three-sentence entry is too short, of course. 2-4 paragraphs is a good range for entries. A little longer is fine for a good story.
    4. Please don’t just make up stories. Usually they aren’t as good anyway and, plus, lying makes kittens cry.

I started Gear Diary on September 30, 2006, and my goal was that this not be an easily labeled site. We all have gear that we use daily – some of it electronic and some of it organic. I think it is fascinating to explore the equipment that makes our lives easier, more entertaining, more productive, and more manageable. My hope is that Gear Diary visitors will find this site to be a comfortable and friendly place to discuss interesting topics – and not only those that are tech related, as well as a location to discover various types of gear – whatever that term may end up implying – that they never knew existed. My specialty is in-depth reviews written in a layman’s terms, because everyone can understand technology, sometimes it just takes a little translating. +Judie Stanford
