Shortly after we tried QIK on the iPhone, Larry discovered that (here we go again) it only works on WiFi. That’s right, if you are on 3G the app records the video and then, when you are connected to WiFi (and presumably launch the app again because.. oh, right, no background apps), it uploads the video.
Not Good.
Well, Larry tweeted the bad news and… within seconds he got a response… from Qik’s marketing director!
Larry Tweeted back… “You don’t expect push back from AT&T?” to which she Tweeted…

There are a few takeaways from this…
A. AT&T and Apple need to fix this
B. Qik users need to send good energy out
C. We LOVE dealing with companies that are responsive, are honest and open, are respectful (veiled reference to this post from yesterday) and who rebel against the trend of anonymity and take the scholarly approach of actually using their names when communicating (less veiled reference to the same post).
We liked Qik a lot before this. We like them a whole lot more, now.

Guys Qik is hardly anything new — for them to have to re-submit to the App store seems a little shaky.
And doesn’t native YouTube iPhone integration sorta make Qik obsolete for anything that isn’t live?

I just think it is appalling how Apple & AT&T continue to mess this stuff up.
