A new report from RBC Capital Markets released a report today on the customer satisfaction rate for the iPhone 3GS. Coming into the survey data data was available that pegged satisfaction with the first two iPhone at 73%. That’s might impressive.

So how did the iPhone 3GS fair?

According to a post on Apple Insider-

A total of 99 percent of 200 respondents to a RBC/IQ ChangeWave survey in August said they are satisfied with their iPhone 3GS, with 82 percent of those “Very Satisfied.” That’s an improvement from the already-stellar statistics on the last two iterations of the iPhone, of which 73 percent of customers gave a superior ranking. Similarly, 94 percent of iPhone 3GS buyers said the product met or exceeded their expectations.

Seriously, when was the last time a product had a satisfaction rate that high??? It is pretty amazing. In fact, as good as the device is, it is a bit surprising. What is not surprising, however, is that AT&T didn’t fair nearly as well. Yup, 55% of those responding listed AT&T as an aspect of the device they dislike. That was followed by the painfully short battery life many of us see.

In fairness the survey only had 200 participants. That isn’t enough to generalize to overall iPhone 3GS owners. Still, it is a pretty impressive number and, in part it explains why I am… well that’s another post. :)

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
