Shape Services provides a variety of cross-platform mobile applications, primarily for the iPhone/iPod Touch and BlackBerry (although you’ll also find offerings, like IM+ messenger that have compatible versions for Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm).
One of their most popular applications, the voice recorder VR+, has just been updated for the iPhone 3GS/3.0 OS. I have previously used and reviewed VR+, and liked the application — a lot. I was not disappointed with the latest update…
The updated version includes “Voice Activity Detection” that works very well with the iPhone. Whereas my previous use of VR+ focused on it being a terrific voice recording/sharing application, I can see that Shape Services really went to work to expand the features for the iPhone 3.0 OS. VR+ allows you to update your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and Blogger accounts — and leave voice notes for friends, family, or colleagues without having to call them.
Need to send out a message to several people at a time? VR+ will get the job done without having to make multiple calls. If you make your own podcasts, VR+ will easily handle that job as well — letting you truly record and share your podcasts on-the-go!
Simply record your voice note through VR+ and you can email it, share on your social networks, or even save the recordings online to your own free VR+ account (good for keeping an archive, if needed). This application is useful for everyone — but I can definitely see how college students can make use of the application for those boring lengthy lecture courses. Since your recordings are converted to MP3, you can play them back on PC, Mac, or mobile.

More updated features to VR+ include:
- Download your recordings over WiFi directly from your iPhone (WiFi sync).
- Keep your recordings organized by assigning categories to them.
- Voice Activated Detection (VAD) can be set to skip silence while recording.
- Order your recordings by Date, Title, or Category.
If you are looking for a solid voice recording/messaging/sharing application, you should definitely check out VR+.
VR+ is available in the iTunes App Store. The ad supported is free, and a non-ad version is on sale for $1.99.
