Ghostbusters

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, Sony and Youtube are teaming up to stream the classic movie for free! The film shows in High Quality in Sony’s Crackle player embedded on the site. The movie released on August 13th at 9PM EST and is supposedly available for a week.

If you have never seen this film, well … you are dead to me ( :-D ). If it has been a while, or even not so long, there is never a bad time to re-watch a comedy classic!

Before you get all teary eyed about the altruism and commitment to the preservation of great art, check this out (emphasis mine):

The showing, which will appear in a 16×9 aspect ratio at “high quality” resolution (as opposed to YouTube’s league-leading jumbo HD player) will feature seven or eight in-stream commercials. The revenue will be shared between partners Sony and YouTube, with the studio taking the majority of the proceeds.

Whew … I was getting worried about Sony for a second there …

I have loved technology for as long as I can remember - and have been a computer gamer since the PDP-10! Mobile Technology has played a major role in my life - I have used an electronic companion since the HP95LX more than 20 years ago, and have been a 'Laptop First' person since my Compaq LTE Lite 3/20 and Powerbook 170 back in 1991! As an avid gamer and gadget-junkie I was constantly asked for my opinions on new technology, which led to writing small blurbs ... and eventually becoming a reviewer many years ago. My family is my biggest priority in life, and they alternate between loving and tolerating my gaming and gadget hobbies ... but ultimately benefits from the addition of technology to our lives!

…unless you are in Canada, then it won’t work… apparently we don’t have ghosts that need busting. I own the movie, but georetarding like this makes me want to pirate it out of spite.

Wow … I also heard that Ireland is blocking this. That really is lousy!
