There...I said it.
With that said: I absolutely love the dv6, in fact I just upgraded it to Windows 7 - which is totally slick. There is one hardware issue that I'm dealing with at the moment - the left click on my touchpad is sticking, but I am sure I can easily get that fixed.
I should be satisfied...I should.
But now that I have gotten used to using a larger screen again, I think that I might like an even larger one - without going to a thick and unwieldy laptop.
A 17" Mac would totally fit the bill.
And I could even load 7 on it.
Hm.
Thinking out loud!!! ;-)

Well, understanding that there is ALWAYS other hardware in my sight (as you well know!), I am considering a 17″ MacBook Pro.

There…I said it.

With that said: I absolutely love the dv6, in fact I just upgraded it to Windows 7 – which is totally slick. I'm a huge tablet PC guy and I really wish HP would release a version of the Mini with a touch screen. If they did, I'd get one and take it with me everywhere. I carry my tx2 a lot, but it's certainly not pocketable and just a bit too big to take everywhere.
I keep my PCs in sync with a combination of hosted Exchange (or Outlook data), Live Mesh (for files), and synced OneNote notebooks (using the app's built-in sync feature).

Nice review! isPermaLink="false">http://www.geardiary.com/?p=41222#comment-48246

I am pretty much in the same boat; but (and I've said this numerous times) I bought my (original) MacBook Pro to be a Windows machine. The hardware is just too, too awesome. Though switching back and forth between OS' in a Boot Camp partition can be a PITA when you're trying to get things done.
I agree that VMWare Fusion is a good way to go; but there are performance trade-offs that I don't like (booting natively to Windows can also create activation headaches for MS software, so be ready for them).
I am going to try to make a permanent switch to OSX Snow Leopard when Office 2010 for Mac (and Outlook 2010 for Mac) is released. If I have to use Windows for anything after that (provided Mac Outlook doesn't suck) it will be for Windows Live Writer, and I may just go full VM for that...
My biggest problem though is my HP Universal Docking Station. It has 4 USB ports, a DVI port, audio ports and (most importantly) a LAN port. The LAN port works with both OSX and Windows XP/Vista/7 and allows for easy hook up of all peripherals while only taking up a single USB port on my MacBook. The problem lies with the LAN port. VWMare Fusion doesn't like it; and I bump into all sorts of connectivity issues with it.

I am pretty much in the same boat; but (and I’ve said this numerous times) I bought my (original) MacBook Pro to be a Windows machine. As someone who has just gone the other way - switched from a big desktop-replacement HP laptop (and a little VAIO TZ for mobile use) to a 15-inch MBP, I was hoping you might touch some more on the software/usability/etc. differences you've experienced between the platforms. What does Vista do right that OS X could learn from, and vice-versa?
It's tough to argue with that pricing, though.

Interesting article Judie.
