I am a huge fan of IKEA, the Swedish-based furniture and homegoods company. So, when I go to IKEA I usually have a list of items I want to purchase that I made using the website and the yearly catalog, as well as a running total in my head. Plus, once you’re actually in the store, you must keep track of the aisle and bin numbers for the items you want to purchase. I’ve been half-tempted to set up an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of everything I want at IKEA (with blank spaces to fill in the aisle/bin while I’m actually shopping) but today I’ve discovered something a little more helpful.
SwedeShop is brand new to the App Store as of today–it’s the unofficial IKEA shopping list app for the iPhone. It allows you to input your entire IKEA shopping list on the iPhone, along with a place to add the aisle/bin numbersm, price, and even a photo of the item. You can input your local tax rate and a budget and SwedeShop will calculate your total purchase price and let you know if you’re spending too much (something that’s easy to do in IKEA, let me tell you!!).
I haven’t had much of a chance to play around with it yet, but I have an IKEA shopping trip planned soon so I’ll be loading SwedeShop up with my list beforehand! The only thing I wish it did was autopopulate the price and details for an item directly from the IKEA website. How awesome would THAT be? Not all the items at the store are always on the website, but it’d come in handy for what was on there.
Download SwedeShop for FREE today (Tuesday, August 18) only, until 11:59 Pacific Time. After that it’ll be going for $0.99.
