There have been already been apps that let you access NPR’s collection of excellent programming. In fact I have had NPR Addict on my iPhone since it was first released. I just removed it, however, as it has been replaced by the new official NPR app.

The free NPR app gives you quick access to a host of NPR’s great programming and it wraps it up in a package that is  fast, slick and easy to use.

With the New NPR app you can see top stories…

NPR

You can look at groups of stories…

NPR

Or listen to the NPR Newscast for the latest news…

NPR

You can search NPR’s programs by the program title…

NPR

Or by the topic…

NPR

You can select a station and listen to a stream of the current program…

You can search for specific stations based on state…

Or using the iPhone’s GPS…

The list goes on and on. The new official NPR app loads with amazing speed and gives you the kind of flexibility that even the most addicted NPR listened need you anything else to get their dose of its offerings.

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
