Saw over on jkOnTheRun that the Touchbook which I blogged about earlier this week is finally getting into people’s hands. Stephen Feger (@sfeger) has been tweeting about receiving his Touchbook as well as posting pictures of the device and sharing initial views.
Here’s one with the keyboard. Looks kind of tippy to me and Stephen confirms it.
Even though little problems already starting to surface. I am looking forward for full reviews to come out regarding these devices.Even with the problems, I still want one!

I’ve been wanting to get my hand on one of these but would really like to see some reviews going out before actually my hands on it.

I had an interesting email exchange with Always Innovating yesterday, after a member of their team took issue with the “generally negative” way he felt I had reported the teething pains of the first preorder units. Like you, I had flagged up the unbalanced top section (together with an issue with some units shipping without manuals, which AI said was an error affecting only a few units, after which I updated out piece). It got me thinking about the expectations of new startups; in his email the AI person I talked to pointed out how “frustrating” it was after a full year of work.
What obligations do we have as reporters of news, rather than as reviewers with our own hands-on experience, and do those obligations change if you’re talking about a “small” company or something vast and practiced like Apple or HP? Would be interested in your opinion, Joel; I’ve been writing about it over here:

Personally…I don’t care how big or small you are. If there is a design flaw, there’s a design flaw. I love to promote these small companies. I would still say alot about Always Innovating as I think the Touchbook is a excellent idea. This little problem would not turn me off the device.
