Qik update hits the App Store – allows 3G uploading

When Qik hit the iTunes App Store a few weeks back cries of outrage rang out at the fact that it was limited to live streaming on Wifi only.

Well I tweeted my dismay on Twitter and immediately heard back from the director of Marketing of Qik that they’d already submitted a newer version of the app. which removed the Wifi only restriction and allowed users to stream live over 3G.

The updated version is now available in the App Store!

Note:  After testing we’ve learned that the new version only allows for uploading of videos over 3G.  Still no live streaming.

    I wonder what the story is behind the removal of Wi-Fi only. Certainly that must have been only a few lines of code to enable 3G streaming.
