After much deliberation between getting a subscription to Pandora or to Slacker Radio I opted for Pandora. In the end, Pandora just felt like a better fit.
Among the things I like about Pandora is the desktop app they offer. It is small, unobtrusive and works well. AND, it just got pumped to version 2.0.
Interface changes add functionality to make it more full-featured. These include a track progress bar as well as access to song history. In addition, if you are using the client on a Windows machine mousing over the Pandora icon brings up song information. Perhaps best of all, things just move faster now. That’s great since the subscription lets you skip as many songs as you want. Now when you skip you don’t have to sit in silence for very long.
Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”)
Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen
