It’s officially the end of Summer for those of us in the U.S. It sure flew by! Before you rush off to hit one last barbecue — or tear it up on the water — we thought you might want to take a look at some of the past week’s best from the Gear Diary team.

Last week saw a major hiccup in Gmail’s services — but, we forgive you Google — you’re still a class act. iPhone users will finally get MMS, even if there’s still no word on tethering. If 1984 was removed from your Kindle, you’ll see $30 back in your account from Amazon. The Android Market is already getting a facelift. Windows Mobile users are finally getting free Wi-Fi from AT&T. Sprint is getting a newly redesigned HTC Hero. Libraries are entering the cappuccino digital eBook age.
But the REALLY big news? Yes, the sky has indeed fallen — Dan is using a BlackBerry (but you’re still not going to pry away his iPhone).

Doug concluded the 30 Apps in 30 Days series for the Palm Pre. If you missed it, you owe it to yourself to check out some of the great WebOS apps that Doug has covered, including Yelp (pictured above).

Judie added a new MacBook Pro 17″ to her arsenal of gadgets, is learning Spanish, and still has time to coordinate a Huge Back to School Gear Giveaway with HP — featuring an HP dv6, an HP Mini 110, Syncables software, and a custom Gear Diary Timbuk2 bag (but hurry! The contest closes at 12:00pm CST Wednesday September 9th. See the full details of entry here).
We hope you’ve had a great summer. Now it’s time to gear up for football season — and new tech goodies ![]()
