Picture this: You live two and a half miles from your front gate, and you want to know who is entering or leaving your property; or you own a half million dollar mobile home that is kept at a storage facility, and you want to check in on it daily without actually driving to the edge of your city; or you own a vacation home that is only visited a few times a year, and you want to make sure that no one is squatting there when you are gone. Those are just three examples of why someone might need the new Brickhouse Security cellular-enabled Global Watchman.
The self-contained 1.3 megapixel camera offers high quality pictures day and night, and offers you the ability to select high or low resolution, so you can control both picture quality and image size. The Global Watchman with Nightvision also features 50 infrared flash bulbs that are completely invisible to the eye so not to alert intruders or wanderers that their every move is being caught on camera. There is even a tactical laser to ensure that the wireless surveillance camera is pointing at the desired spot.

Just like any other mobile phone, the Global Watchman requires its own plan:

The Global Watchman unit itself is not inexpensive at $599.99 (promotional price, down 33% from $900), but the service offered is one that I think has much value. I was actually quite interested in buying one for ranch use, until I realized that the Global Watchman uses Sprint. Urgh! Has no one yet figured out that truly rural areas do not usually have the best Sprint coverage, no matter what the Sprint coverage map tries to say? Oh well.
If the item that you need to monitor happens to be in a strong coverage area, then you might still be interested…
Update: I have just heard from a Brickhouse Security rep that “we have the ability to use different carriers, such as ATT, and we should be able to have Verizon ready by launch too. Depending on where someone is using the device, we would put in a different carrier SIM.” That’s great news!
