My buddy Patrick gave me a heads-up regarding a new app that coming to the App Store today. Well, actually it is a new app FOR the App Store but not a new app at all.

The app, Snapture, has been available on jailbroken iPhones for quite some time. To use his words, it is “like the built-in camera app on Steroids”. Among its features…

# Patent-pending Picture-in-Picture Technology (allows users to view and delete recent photos directly on the viewfinder)
# Multi-Touch Pinch and Pan Zoom (5X max)
# High Speed Multishot: 3 rapid-fire snaps to capture every moment of action.
# Easy Snap: Tap anywhere on screen to take a photo.

Best of all, Patrick has learned that the app will make its debut without Apple having stripped away the best feature prior to release.

Read all about it on Just Another iPhone Blog.

(Editorial note- Hmmmm it replicates and enhances the built-in camera app… isn’t that a “no no” and the reason Apple lied gave for rejecting Google Voice??)

Having a father who was heavily involved in early laser and fiber-optical research, Dan grew up surrounded by technology and gadgets. Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. (When he asked his father what the “#” and “*” buttons were his dad said, “Some day, far in the future, we’ll have some use for them.”) Technology seemed to be in Dan’s blood but at some point he took a different path and ended up in the clergy. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. +Dan Cohen

Hey Dan – thanks for the link. Oh, and on that last question – I think that’s a big YES. :)

I jumped on it just for the reason of your last question. Works nicely. Not sure if the autofocus is working or not. So used to the little square and the focusing that way.
