By default the iPhone allows you to set the double clicking of the home button to one of five tasks. You can set it to go to home, search, your phone favorites, camera or the iPod. Sort of limiting don’t you think.
That’s where Custom Home Button comes in. Available for jailbroken phones only the application, which is available via the Touch Mania source (http://cydia.touch-mania.com/) allows you to set the double clicking of your home button to anything your hear desires. You can choose from your App Store applications, Cydia Applications, Web Sites or one of the default actions.
Once installed you’ll see the Custom Home Button settings within your iPhone’s default settings application. Within the settings you can not only configure what happens when you double click the home button but you can toggle the entire application on or off.

It’s as simple as checking off which function you want double clicking the home button to open an off you go.

One thing to watch out for. If you use Categories to organize your applications you can not set an application that’s inside a Categories folder and your double click home button. It won’t launch. Any application you choose must be visible on the springboard.
I’m not sure why this feature isn’t built into the iPhone by default. Limiting the function to only five actions seems restrictive to me. But if you’re jailbroken this app. solves the limitation.
