Samsonite and McLaren Team Up for Black Label X

No, it’s not a new F1 racing team sponsor, it a line of luggage for the F1 aficionado who can’t get enough of a good thing. I suspect that like most luxury goods, if you have to ask how much it is, then you can’t afford it…
This initial phase of the collaboration takes in to consideration the rigorous travel schedule encountered by the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race team, giving them a collection of luggage which is tough, secure, light weight and in keeping with the technology associated with advanced motorsport.
The SBL MclarenSport collection comprises 9 individual pieces all with their own unique design attributes and common functional traits. All items are finished in black nylon with the distinct Mclaren rocket red accents. The perforated leather carry handles, black nickel metal hardware and linings in grey and rocket red come as standard. The wheel suspension system which some of pieces employ has been through rigorous testing courtesy of the Mclaren team and has proved its prowess over thousands of miles of grueling travel.
Due to drop into Selfridges in London and Manchester on 2nd Nov and a month later it will go into Harrods.
I suspect that any of the luggage with wheels will have the little red shock absorbers you can juuuust see peeking from behind this rollerbag’s wheel. Is this supposed to be a similar effect to those flashy red brakes on sports cars? I think yes…
So here’s a rundown of the new line…
Laptop Backpack
The perfect piece for a more compact mobile office. The Backpack comprises of a Laptop compartment and main compartment with document dividers and multiple interior pockets.
Laptop Backpack / Messenger Bag
A smaller, day to day Laptop carrier with a main compartment incorporating space for a Laptop as well as front panel pocket for pens, business cards and key chain.
Carry On Upright
Measuring 55cm the Carry On is a smaller version of the Duffle retaining all its key features.
Mobile Office Upright
A travel and Laptop carrier combined, the Mobile Office offers ample packing space and a separate Laptop compartment with thermo-formed air flow panel.
Large Upright Case
Measuring 75cm the Duffle not only has 2 packing compartments, special suspension wheels and a branded TSA padlock but also comes complete with 2 shoe bags and a laundry bag.

This is essentially an expandable briefcase with large rear document compartment, Laptop compartment, re-movable cable pouch, expansion gusset and front panel for business organisation.
Map and Media Bag
A simple functional bag with a main compartment with interior pockets, front and back pockets and adjust-able shoulder strap.
Toilet Kit
Complete with water repellant lining and multiple pockets for toiletry items and mesh netting divider pocket.
