Web site The Street is reporting “Exclusive: Verizon Snubs Palm Pre”. There’s no telling whether their tipster means that only the Pre won’t make the Verizon trip. By the time Verizon is ready to offer a new Palm smartphone there very well could be a refresh of the Palm Pre under a different name or even model. In addition, there’s no telling whether the recently unveiled Palm Pixi will be slated for Verizon. Nevertheless it’s an interesting rumor since the loss of a major carrier as Verizon would be a significant setback to Palm’s comeback story.

Apparently now others are coming in and claiming to ‘debunk’ the report at The Street:

Bawhahahahahahaha – on of the sources of ranting seems to be AllthingsD – the same AllThingsD that claimed the Palm Pre would never in a million years launch before the 3GS – which of course it promptly did…..
Engadget basically says that the rumor was too thin to print — but here’s another rumor to fight that first rumor (seemingly as thin I might add).
Hey I don’t make rumors up – I just spread ‘em.
BTW – the high and might act by Engadget is sad — they pull it on their podcast from time to time and I get a good chuckle.
