I'm blown away by the difference between iPhone apps and those for WM and Blackberry. I am not, however, a fan of this in-app approach. Let me try it for free and then, if I like it, charge me a reasonable price for a full-featured app.

No argument on the pricing differential. 1Password has provided free upgrades for years now since version 2 came out, and are looking for an upgrade price to version 3. It's worth it to me, but for now I'm using the stable version 2. (More info on using version 2 in 10.6: http://www.switchersblog.com/2009/08/update-1password-on-snow-leopard.html )
As for application prices, I was just reading a story at mobilitysite.com about RSS readers for Windows Mobile and they cost $19.95 and $14.95. Nickels and dimes don't seem so bad compared with that.

FWIW, I am using 1Password version 2 just fine in 10.6.1.
