Let’s see, touch screen, app-running, WiFi enabled Zune up against… scroll wheel iPod with a camera? Seriously, this is one I don’t get. But I am looking forward to their next video. Readingpen Ts sounds out the hard words and makes reading easier

Posted on 17 September 2009

Digital pen manufacturer Wizcom Technologies today announced the release of ReadingPen TS, a Personal Reading Assistant for adults and children who suffer from reading, processing and comprehension disabilities. This pen sized computer works by swiping the tip over unfamiliar words. The user can then hear the definitions, synonyms and translations – and if you like the word can be spoken and spelled aloud. This would be a great tool for anyone with children who need just a little extra reading help but are resistant to asking a parent or teach for extra assistance with difficult words. Posted on 16 September 2009

Until version 9 of iTunes I was a wonderfully satisfied user. My library of 2,800+ songs rarely slowed when I’d select a song or playlist. My iPhone synchronized in the background without any slowdowns. I used to wonder about this Apple icon people called a “beach ball” because I rarely saw it. Then along came iTunes 9 and everything changed. … Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Darn it, where did I put the remote for the candle…?

Posted on 16 September 2009

It’s every host’s worst nightmare. You set up your house just so, with bright candles in your favorite color (let’s say pink), and everything is going smoothly…when one of your guests shows up wearing orange (clashing terribly with your candles)! Now Bree Van De Kamp will never come to another one of your parties! And in your guests’ haste to flee your home of bad taste, one of them knocks over a candle, burning the entire abomination to the ground. Of course, you could dodge this scenario and use a Mooncandle: a wax, flameless candle that changes color with remote control. Yes, even candles have remote controls these days. Helpful if you want to put a candle… Continue reading on Gear Diary …

Review: Plantraco Micro Butterfly

Posted on 16 September 2009

When I got this  airplane in the mail, I was shocked that this little tiny thing can actually fly.  I am happy to say that this little airplane not only flew, but flew very well even outside where I tested it. Let’s go over all the pieces of this  plane. The plane itself is constructed mainly of a carbon fiber wire for it’s fuselage and durobatic foam for it’s wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers.  It doesn’t sound like much, but the plane is very durable even though it looks like you could and can crush it.  In normal use, it should last for years.  Just don’t step or sit on it!… Continue reading on Gear Diary …
