We mentioned a few weeks ago that the Android 1.6 SDK had been released for developers, and T-Mobile and Google have been rolling it out over the past few days to T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G owners. It seems that the rollout is in full force now, as I received the update recently. Read on for more information and screenshots of the new features.

A quick reminder of the new features that we described in the SDK announcement:

  • Faster/updated Camera, Video Camera, and Gallery applications
  • Quick Search Box more global
  • Redesigned Android Market interface, including screenshots
  • VPN, Accessibility, and improved Battery Usage settings

In addition, there have been some small UI tweaks and refinements (for example: changing the Clear Notifications button to just Clear). In addition, network access seems to be vastly improved, and Twitter applications load much faster than before.

Look for the update coming to your favorite Android device soon.
