Rock Band coming to iPhone

Posted on 08 October 2009 by

There’s no denying it.  Rock Band is popular.  Even my children who are 9,6,3 head down to the playroom on a somewhat regular basis to fire up the Wii and get a little band going.

EA, one of the premier application developers for the iPhone OS, announced at the CITA conference that they’ll be releasing a version of Rock Band for the iPhone OS.  The game will feature down loadable tracks as well as the ability to play along side up to four players wirelessly.

Not much more detail than that so stay tuned.

Check out a trailer of the Rock Band 2 game.

I have always had a passion for gear and gadgets. It all started for me with the release of the very first Palm Pilot. I've always had an interest in handheld electronics. From handheld PDAs, to cell phones, Mp3 players, watches and other products, I'm the first person my friends, family and colleagues call when they need advice on tech. I have roots in the online tech. forum community. I served as the Administrator to Howard Forums.com and as a Moderator at both Treo Central.com and Blackberry Forums.net. The video is Rock Band 2 … not iPhone. (which is what 9to5Mac linked as well).

This is interesting to me – Tap Tap Revenge has been ultra-hot since the App Store launched, so this can definitely work.

So far portable editions have been mixed: the DS has the ‘grip’ controller, which is fun enough but tends to cramp you up too quickly, and the sales of games since the original Guitar Hero: On Tour have flagged. The PSP has ‘Rock Band Unplugged’ which is fun and LOOKS like Rock Band … but plays like the classic PSx rhythm games like Amplitude.

It will be interesting to see what the iPhone version brings.
